How to Win

You win when you reach 15 Points and keep 15 Points through the end of one full round.

Reminder: One round = your turn + the Carnivores’ turn.

Said another way, if you end your turn with 15 points or more, and you start your next turn with 15 or more points, you have won.

Set Up

  1. Extinction Events: Excluded (optional: include to increase difficulty)
  2. Shuffle the deck.
  3. Scoring Gems:
    • Green Gems count for you, the player.
    • Red Gems count for the Carnivores.

Your Turn

1. Draw 2 cards at the start of your turn
2. Play 2 cards per turn
3. Discard 1 card at the end of your turn
4. If you have over 7 cards in your hand, after
discarding, they must discard additional cards
until you have only 7 cards.

5. When finished, proceed to the Carnivores’ turn.

The Carnivores’ Turn

Follow in order

1) Draw & Play

  1. Draw 3 cards, one at a time.
  2. If the card has Red Gems, play it. Otherwise, discard it.

2) Target Priority (Most Important Rule)

If able, the Carnivores always target your most valuable card using these effects in priority order:

  1. EAT (highest priority)
  2. BOUNCE
  3. ATTACK

If there’s a tie for “most valuable,” you choose which tied card is targeted.

3) Scavenge & Forage

If a played Carnivore card SCAVENGES or FORAGES:

  • Play any drawn cards with Red Gems.
  • Discard any drawn cards with Green Gems.
  • These cards are in addition to the normal 3-card draw.
  • If you have the Cambrian Explosion and encounter the White Gem card, play it for the Carnivores if it is drawn.

4) Other Rules

  • All other keywords are ignored.
  • The Carnivores never keep cards, so they never have a hand to target or discard from.
  • If you are playing with Extinction Events, the Carnivores will always discard their lowest point cards in play.

End of Carnivores’ turn: Proceed to your turn.
